Some Uni Work...

So today I had to go in to uni to collect some of my work, so I thought I'd post a few photos of the things I made last semester for one of my modules!

I made a selection of earrings, badges and purses. My theme was vintage and upcycle, I used vintage scarves for a section of the purses mixed with organic fairtrade cotton for the rest. The stud earrings come in 2 sizes and have the 'mini' logo on them too! each purse comes with a 'mini' logo badge on them as well :)

Haven't got the grades or feedback yet but fingers crossed!

Making Things!

So... I have just photoed (is that a word?!) some of the things I have spent some of my time off making... but first here is the typewriter that I managed to get my hands on...

I am hoping that I will still be able to get hold of the ribbon for it when it runs out... eBay may be the answer!
Here are a few things that I made for my room....

These are some hearts that I stitched and stuffed and then attached together will wool. And next to it is some paper flowers I created from one of the projects in the meet me at mikes book! I haven't quite finished it yet though, I want to add something to the bottom!

And here is the old wooden wash basket I salvaged from my Grandad's house... Now transformed into my stool/fabric box!

 And the Box I covered...
I just had to put this one in! A cat cushion... I cut the cat off a jumper my housemate was going to throw away! I love cats and thought I'd put it to some use... although I am in fear that people are going to start thinking I am a crazy cat lady... I guess they aren't far off the truth, apart from I don't smell like wee...well I hope not anyway!

My next project to tackle is to learn how to crochet and knit properly... we shall have to see how that one goes :|

Hello Blog

So I thought it was about time I started a blog, I'd started to feel a little left out since pretty much everyone I know seems to have one!

Anyway, so my first post! I thought I'd tell you all a bit about what I've been doing over the last few weeks...

About 3 weeks ago I handed in all my 1st semester's work at uni which was a relief and then I began a 2 week break which began with a 4 day trip to Paris. I'd never been to Paris before so luckily I was with a couple of friends who had been before and could show me all the best bits :) I ate a lot of cheese including a babybel that was basically the size of my face and a hell of a lot of baguettes... well you've got to haven't you!
I'd also bought a new Camera with my Christmas money and thought I'd test out is Panoramic feature while in Paris... I think I still need to fine tune my technique but I think its pretty cool... check out a few examples!...

After this I went home to sunny Milton Keynes to see my mummy and get one of my Christmas presents that hadn't turned up because of the snow, a book called, 'Meet Me At Mike's' that has loads of little projects to do which is well up my street :) - I immediately knew how I would be spending my last week off before uni starts again - getting stuck into some of these projects!

Anyway before I could do this I went with my mum, step dad and uncle to start the mammoth task of clearing out my Grandad's house since he moved into a home (which is much better for him). Obviously there was a lot of rubbish that either got thrown in the bin or given to charity, but I have to say I did take advantage of taking a few treasured things and also hoarding in things that I could use and make things out of! A few things that I didn't expect to find that I just had to have were an old typewriter that I remember playing with when I was little and 2 camera that still had half-used films in them, which I am going to use up and get developed, I wonder what little gems might be on them!

I decided that I would take the old wooden washing basket that was going to get thrown away and turn it in to a stool, with storage inside for all my fabric and wool. I also took a box that had been covered a few times to re-cover in a more jazzy fabric so I could store some more things in it (I don't actually know what I'm going to put in it yet, but I do seem to love collecting various boxes and pots so I just had to have it).

Anyway I think I've chattered on quite a bit for my first post so I will stop talking now! I will post a few pics of the things I collected from my Grandad's house and how I have changed them and also some of the projects I have done over the past week before the hectic uni schedule sets in once more :)
